
Jammu:
Amid tight security arrangements, the second batch of 3,245 pilgrims left Jammu base camp on Thursday for the 3,888 meter high cave shrine of Lord Shiva at Amarnath in south Kashmir Himalayas.
As many as 3,245 pilgrims comprising of 2,111 male, 704 females, 137 children and 293 sadhus left in 119 vehicles from Bagwatinagar Yatri Bhawan base camp in Jammu, around
5 am on Thursday.
Police officials said that, the yatra convoy is with mobile escort of CRPF, police, and ITBP have already crossed Udhampur and are on their way to the base camps of Baltal and Pahalgam in Kashmir valley,
While, the first batch of yatris, that left Jammu on Wednesday, reached Pahalgam in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
As many as 2.75 lakh pilgrims have registered so far across the country. The yatra would conclude in August.
