Second swine flu death in Pune

The second swine flu death in Pune is of Sanjay Kokare, the 42-year-old teacher who died late on Saturday night.

According to his relatives, Sanjay fell ill on the August 1 and started treatment at his village, which is about 70 kilometres from Pune.

As there was no improvement, he was shifted to Noble hospital in the city. The hospital suggested a swine flu test. Sanjay was taken to Naidu hospital where the test was done.

He was admitted to Sassoon Hospital on August 7 and put on ventilator. On Saturday evening his tests for swine flu came out positive.

According to Sanjay's family he may have got the flu on his travels to Pune. Sanjay's family in the village is being tested, and put on Tamiflu.

In all, over 3,600 cases of swine flu have been tested in India and of these 780 have tested positive. Over 500 people have been discharged.

Of the new cases reported on Saturday, 34 are from Pune.
