A legislator of the Telugu Desam Party, Sandra Venkata Veeraiah, was arrested today in Telangana's cash-for-votes scam after a seven-hour questioning session.
The legislator from Khammam's Sattupalli assembly constituency had been summoned for questioning last month, but he had not appeared, citing health reasons.
Today, the officials of the Anti-Corruption Branch had been questioning him since 10 am, following which he was formally arrested.
Sources in the Anti-Corruption Branch said Mr Veeraiah's complicity is suspected in the attempt to allegedly bribe nominated member Elvis Stephenson for his support during the legislative council elections held in June.
On May 31, Mr Reddy had allegedly offered a bribe of Rs 50 lakh to Mr Stephenson to ensure that he supported TDP candidate Nagender Reddy in the legislative council elections.
