
Srinagar:
An encounter is going on between security forces and militants in Jammu and Kashmir's Handwara district. Three militants are reportedly holed up in a house and are firing at the security personnel.
"In Handwara, we got inputs that there is terrorist activity. The encounter is still going on," said Srinagar IG Abdul Gani Mir.
Earlier in the day, one policeman was killed and two other cops injured after militants opened fire on a police patrol party in Chadoora in Budgam district. Chadoora is just 15 kilometres from Srinagar.
The militants managed to escape after the attack. No militant outfit has claimed responsibility so far.
