Gurdaspur:
A goof-up by Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal's security coordination committee today led to the helicopter carrying him to a wrong destination.
Badal's chopper took off from Raja Sansi Airport in Amritsar for Gurdaspur to attend a function in connection with the World Cup Kabaddi match at 2:30 pm. However, the security committee gave wrong location of the helipad to the Air Traffic Controller in Amritsar. When the chopper reached the destination and found no helipad there, it flew back to Amritsar.
It was only after the correct location of the helipad was given to the ATC Amritsar that helicopter reached Gurdaspur two hours late.
Gurdaspur Deputy Commissioner Karmjitit Singh Sra said it was due to the "major goof-up" by the security coordination committee that Badal had to travel up and down from Amritsar to Gurdaspur.
