Security stepped up at Wagah border

New Delhi:

The growing influence of the Taliban inside Pakistan has been a source of great concern for India. An after shock of the Lahore attack was also felt in India.

The Border Security Force has stepped up security along the Wagah border. Senior officials visited the post to take stock of the situation.

Meetings were held with allied border security agencies including the Customs and Excise officers to ensure security.

"We do hope Pakistan authorities will be able to resolve the crisis soon. But once again it points out that terrorism is the biggest menace to world peace and tranquility and it is also a serious destabilising force in this subcontinent. And we do hope the international community will have to collectively fight against this menace and bring and end to it," said Pranab Mukherjee, Union External Affairs Minister.
