Security threat ahead of polls in J&K; forces on alert

Srinagar,Jammu:

There are reports suggesting that a big group of terrorists have crossed the Line of Control (LoC) and entered Jammu and Kashmir just ahead of the elections with a purpose to disrupt it.

Sources have said that well-trained Hizbul and Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants have sneaked into the state from across the border. The purpose of the militants is apparently to strike during the elections and disrupt the polls in the country.

The government has stepped up security and has ordered a three-tier security in Jammu and Kashmir. The Army too has stepped up vigil along the LoC and the International Border. The Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF have also increased security in the hinterland. Police and intelligence are on high alert.

The Army has also said that around 400 trained terrorists are waiting to sneak into J&K.

A few days back, Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta and Defence Secretary Vijay Singh were in Srinagar to discuss the security issue.
