Kolkata:
He had earlier said, 'Don't marry anyone from the CPM'. Now Trinamool minister Jyotipriya Mullick has gone a step further and warned that if you look at a CPM supporter's face, you run the risk of being run over in a road accident. And what is his anti-dote to such bad luck? Put up a photograph of Mamata Banerjee in your house and, before you step out every morning, take a long look at her face!
None of the above has Mamata Banerjee's sanction, perhaps, but Jyotipriyo Mullick has been taking his anti-CPM crusade to great lengths. At a public Bongaon in April, the food and civil supplies minister stunned supporters when he said urged them to socially boycott members and workers of the CPM. "Don't marry anyone from the CPM and don't even go to weddings if anyone linked with the CPM invites you to one," he had said.
Mullick's logic: We cannot fight the CPM all out if we keep any relations with them.
Yesterday, Mullick took his battle against the CPM further and said, "Do not look at the faces of the CPI-M miscreants. If they are on your left, turn right. Do not look at them, for you may fall into trouble. It will bring you bad luck. If you are heading for work and see their faces, you may end up getting crushed under the wheels of a vehicle."
Interestingly, though Mullick's previous comments had earned the Trinamool a fair amount of criticism, the leadership is not known to have cautioned. Yesterday, when he made his latest remarks at a public meeting in Bashirhat, the audience applauded.
