BJP won in riot-hit Muzaffarnagar.
Uttar Pradesh's ruling Samajwadi Party today lost to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in riot-hit Muzaffarnagar, in by-polls that were held on Saturday. The party has also lost the Deoband seat to the Congress but has retained a third seat.
By-polls were also held in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Punjab, Telangana, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Tripura.
Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) won the Narayankhed Assembly seat in Medak district. Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal won the Khadoor Sahib Assembly seat in Punjab.
The CPI-M retained the Amarpur assembly seat in Tripura whereas Rashtriya Lok Samta Party won Bihar's Harlakhi assembly seat.
