Sena-BJP alliance to be announced on Saturday

Mumbai: The Shiv Sena-BJP alliance will formally announce their alliance and the seats they will contest for the October 13 Maharashtra Assembly polls at a press conference on Saturday.

This year the Shiv Sena has changed its long-standing seat sharing formula and conceded two extra seats to the BJP. This is to compensate for the Sena giving up its long held Guhagarh seat to the Sena.

According to NDTV reports Sena will contest on 169 seats and BJP 119 of the 288 seats.

BJP has given up Guhagarh seat to Sena in exchange it will get two seats including Ghatkopar west.

Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray, state BJP president Nitin Gadkari and BJP general secretary Gopinath Munde would jointly announce the alliance, Sena spokesperson Neelam Gorhe told PTI.

Gadkari and Munde met Sena supremo Bal Thackeray at his residence Matoshtree in suburban Bandra today, apparently to discuss the deadlock over Guhagar seat in coastal Konkan.

"The Sena chief blessed Munde and Gadkari and the alliance is likely to be formally announced tomorrow," Gorhe said. (With PTI inputs)
