Kaimur, Bihar:
The Bihar government has transferred two senior cops of Kaimur district two days after allegations of sexual harassment by a woman officer against the Superintendent of Police (SP).
Both officers have been transferred to relatively low-profile postings on the recommendation of a police enquiry panel constituted to look into the matter. The panel is expected to submit its report to the Bihar government on the issue in the next few days.
In a written complaint to the women's police station in Kaimur on Monday, the woman police officer, the second in command in the district, has accused SP Pushkar Anand, a 2009 batch IPS officer, of sexually exploiting her after promising to marry her.
The officer has claimed that SP Anand and his family later backtracked and threatened to destroy her career. She also alleged that the SP had been sending her threatening messages in the last few days.
The IPS officer in question denied the allegations and said, "I did not send any messages, nor did I threaten her. If any such records exist, I am guilty. We both are officers and I know how to behave with a fellow officer."
The Bihar Human Rights Commission has sought a report on the matter from the state Director General of Police. The state DGP has promised strict action once an enquiry into the matter is completed and said the woman officer has been transferred to protect her identity.
