Separatists call three-day bandh; curfew in Srinagar
Srinagar:

Close on the heels of the twin murder and rape in Shopian just a few weeks back, separatists have called for a three-day bandh.

The bandh has been called after Monday's violence in which two people were killed and several injured, allegedly in CRPF firing.

An indefinite curfew has been clamped in Baramulla and a magisterial probe has been ordered.

"The curfew has been imposed in the town to maintain law and order," Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Latif-u-Zaman Deva said.

"We are monitoring the situation which is very tense," he added.

The six-month-old Omar Abdullah government is grappling with one crisis after another.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah evaded questions on both Baramulla and Shopian while speaking to reporters on Monday, after inaugurating a power station. (With PTI inputs)
