Mahanand Naik, who has been arrested in Goa for murdering women after luring them with marriage proposals, on Tuesday confessed to the killing of two more young women, taking the number of his victims to nine.
Naik (40), who was on a killing spree since 1994, in and around Ponda on Tuesday morning confessed to the killing of the two girls -- Surat Gaonkar and Nirmal Ghadi.
The former auto-rickshaw driver is being interrogated by police to probe his link with 16 missing girls from the town after they got his confession in nine cases.
Mahanand, married and father of one-and-a-half-year old girl, was arrested following a complaint of rape by a girl, claiming to be his wife's friend.
During police interrogation, Mahanand confessed to the killing of two young women and in the subsequent interrogations, he went on confessing about his killings.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Serafin Dias said that they have till date got the confessions from Mahanand about nine killings at different spots, all isolated places.
Police stated that the killer used to put to death the girls by strangulating them with their 'dupattas' (scarves).
