Lucknow: After allegations that officials are scared of serving a legal document to Dimple Yadav, the wife of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, the Allahabad High Court has said that the paper must be served to her in person immediately or be pasted at her residence.
The notice from court asks Mrs Yadav, who is 35 years old, to respond to allegations that she was unfairly elected to the Lok Sabha in June this year from Kannauj, a constituency represented by her husband till he became Uttar Pradesh's chief minister and moved to the UP Assembly.
Prabhat Kumar Pandey, who filed the petition, claims he wanted to stand against Mrs Yadav but was stopped by Samajwadi Party workers from filing his nomination papers to ensure safe passage for her to Parliament.
Mrs Yadav was elected unopposed.
The petitioners said recently in court that district officials were hesitant about serving Mrs Yadav an official notice seeking her response to the charges.
