New Delhi:
Actor Shah Rukh Khan has said there is nothing 'objectionable' in his new film
Jab Harry Met Sejal, a reassurance spurred by the Central Board of Film Certification's demand that the word 'intercourse' be deleted from the promo. Days ago, chief censor Pahlaj Nihalani told
Mirror Now that he would pass the word if it was upvoted by a lakh - a condition that was enthusiastically met on Twitter. Speaking at a promotional pub crawl in Mumbai last night, Shah Rukh Khan said, "The way people have voted, they should come and watch the film too. I've said this before as well, we respect the CBFC a lot, they are doing their job, we are doing ours. Having said that, I don't think in the context of the film there is anything objectionable," reports news agency PTI.
Pahlaj Nihalani told
Mirror Now, "You take voting from the public and I will clear the word (intercourse) on the promo and the film also. I want 1 lakh votes and I want to see that India has changed and Indian families want their 12-year-old kids to understand the meaning of this word (intercourse)." So last week, Twitter trended 'Sanskari Nihalani' as it
went about collecting the votes. However, it seems like Mr Nihalani is being something of a sore loser.
Shah Rukh Khan previously said he was hopeful of a change of heart on the part of the Censor. "May be they (CBFC) are considering some dialogues as unsuitable now. And if they find it unsuitable, we'll get them changed. But I think when they will watch the entire film, they will understand the context and hopefully everything will be good," he said, reported news agency ANI.
Jab Harry Met Sejal stars SRK, 51, as Harry from Punjab and Anushka Sharma, 29, as Sejal from Gujarat. Last night, the actors and director Imtiaz Ali toured the night clubs of Mumbai
to promote the song Beech Beech Mein. The film, for which five mini trailers have been released so far, is scheduled for August 4.
