Sharad Pawar, the chief of the Nationalist Congress Party, has been taken to Mumbai by air ambulance after he was injured in a fall at his Delhi home.
Mr Pawar, 73, was injured in his leg and back when he slipped during a morning walk, sources said. He is likely to be admitted to Mumbai's Breach Candy Hospital.
The former union minister's wife Pratibha and daughter Supriya Sule are accompanying him.
Mr Pawar, who left the Congress and formed the NCP in 1999, is currently a member of Rajya Sabha.
