Chandrapur: Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar was going to Nagpur from Gadchiroli today when he saw a damaged car with injured people inside near Bhiwapur village on the highway. He then asked the driver of his car to pull aside and help the passengers of the car that had met with an accident near the village, some 70 kilometres from Nagpur, a senior NCP leader who was with Mr Pawar's convoy said.

Maharashtra NCP vice president Rameshchandra Bang, who was in the convoy, said Mr Pawar and some men got off their vehicles immediately and went to task.

"Pawar rushed to the car and found that four people were stuck inside and were in pain. The doors of the car were jammed," Mr Bang said.

"On Pawar's direction, people in his motorcade helped in bringing out the injured people. He stood at the accident site until an ambulance arrived to take the injured people to a hospital," Mr Bang said.
