Shashi Tharoor 'Delighted' That Kerala Congress Is Preparing Report on Him
The Congress in Kerala has decided to complain against MP Shashi Tharoor
Thiruvananthapuram: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor says he is delighted that his party in Kerala is preparing a report against him for his views on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Delighted to learn KPCC (Kerala Congress) is preparing a 'detailed report'. That means they might finally actually read what i wrote instead of oral summaries,"Mr Tharoor tweeted hours after Kerala leaders said they would submit a report to the leadership in Delhi and recommend action against him for praising PM Modi.

Kerala Congress chief VM Sudheeran told NDTV, "There have been repeated instances of Shashi Tharoor being seen as appreciative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has wounded the party spirit. We have to ensure that such remarks are not repeated."

This morning, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and state Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala were present in what was described as an emergency meeting to discuss possible action against Mr Tharoor.

The two-time MP from Thiruvananthapuram rattled his colleagues when he said he was "honoured" to be featured among nine prominent Indians tagged by the Prime Minister when he launched his five-year Clean India campaign last week on Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary.

On Tuesday, a Congress publication in Kerala tore into Mr Tharoor for writing "love songs" for PM Modi through "tweets and adulatory articles in opinion pages."

The caustic article in the Congress daily "Veekshnam" did not name Mr Tharoor as it said, "Holy cows who cannot stand one election defeat, how long will they last with the Congress party? In the present drought of the Congress, the disappointed ones must have been attracted to the prosperity and reign of the BJP."

The article compared Mr Tharoor to "Siberian migratory birds who come looking for optimum climate."

Mr Tharoor told NDTV that his criticism outweighed his praise for PM Modi, and that he was being targeted as he was seen as an outsider, "a foreign object in the body politic."
