When Shashi Tharoor Took His Mother On 'Special Holiday' To Taj Mahal

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor recently visited the Taj Mahal in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, with his mother to celebrate her birthday and shared a few pictures on Instagram.

In the pictures, the parliamentarian is seen posing next to his mother, Lily Tharoor, and sisters, Shobha and Smita Tharoor, with the marvellous monument in the backdrop.

“Wonderful to take our mother to a special holiday for her birthday. Most of us hadn't visited the Taj in a quarter-century. Rare for us all to be together— and in a wonderful place on a day that means so much to all of us,” Mr Tharoor captioned the post.

Many, on the platform, reacted to the MP's post and extended birthday wishes to his mother.

Some seemed to be looking for an obscure word Mr Tharoor often uses. “Where is the tough word though?” a person asked.

Another said, “And the mother is still the most good-looking!”

A user wrote, “She's blessed to have such loving children. Happy birthday to your mom sir.”

Shashi Tharoor routinely shares social media posts that instantly intrigue his followers. Days ago, he uploaded a meme on Instagram that compared the balancing skills of Indian women with football icon Lionel Messi.

In the picture, Messi is seen balancing a football on his head and on the other side, a “mausi” is seen carrying five earthen pots on her head and some in her hands too.

Shashi Tharoor lost Congress presidential polls to veteran leader Mallikarjun Kharge in October this year. The author managed 1,072 votes or 11.95 per cent of the valid votes while Mr Kharge emerged victorious with 7,897 votes. Before this, the election had happened 22 years ago when Sonia Gandhi was challenged by UP's Jitendra Prasad. Sonia Gandhi secured 7,448 while her opponent got less than 100 votes.
