Mumbai: Though Indrani Mukerjea, prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, disliked Rahul Mukerjea, she did not have the same attitude towards his brother Rabin, also Peter Mukerjea's son from his previous marriage, and never restrained her husband from talking to him.
This has emerged in a mail addressed to Mr Peter Mukerjea in November 2014, two years after Ms Sheena's death, in which Ms Indrani said she never stopped Mr Peter from talking to Mr Rabin, according to the chargesheet filed by the CBI in the case.
"I don't recall telling you at any point that you should not call or mail or chat with Rabin, neither that thought ever crossed my mind, wonder why it crossed your mind," Ms Indrani said.
"Rabin has not yet stooped to Rahul's level. So who is talking about no contact and why ?," the mail read.
According to CBI, Mr Rahul and Ms Sheena were in a relationship, which both Mr Peter and Ms Indrani disapproved of.
Both were engaged and about to get married. But when Ms Sheena went 'missing' after April 2012, Mr Rahul Mukerjea grew suspicious. Worried, he is also said to have sought legal advice and had warned Mr Peter Mukerjea (in one of his mails in May 2012) that Sheena's disappearance could lead to something "untoward".
Mr Rahul had also insisted that things could only be clear when Ms Sheena would directly speak to him as he was not convinced with the break-up text messages he had received from "Sheena" (believed to be sent by Indrani) on April 25, since there were past instances when Ms Indrani had posed as Ms Sheena and sent messages.
Ms Sheena Bora (24) was allegedly strangled in a car and then her body was burnt and dumped in a forest in Raigad, about 84 km from Mumbai.
Ms Indrani (43), her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her ex-driver Shyamvar Rai have been chargesheeted in the murder case. The victim was Ms Indrani's daughter from an earlier marriage.
Mr Peter Mukerjea, who was arrested last week for his alleged role in the murder, is currently in CBI custody.
