Former media tycoon Peter Mukerjea has been in CBI custody since the agency arrested him on November 19 in Mumbai.
Mumbai:
A Mumbai court today extended the judicial custody of former media tycoon Peter Mukerjea, who is one of the four prime accused in his step-daughter Sheena Bora's murder, till December 28.
Mr Mukerjea's lawyer Kushal Mor then moved an application before Magistrate RV Adone seeking permission for home cooked food in jail for Mr Mukerjea.
"While in CBI custody, it was ensured that he (Mukerjea) got proper healthy food... now that he is jail we need to ensure the same as per his medical needs," Mr Mor informed the court, seeking home cooked food for Mr Mukerjea who is a heart patient and on medication for cholesterol issues.
Opposing the application, CBI special prosecutor Kavita Patil said that jail authorities always take care of their inmates.
Tomorrow, Magistrate Adone is expected to pass his order on the issue.
Arrested on November 19 from his home in Worli, Mr Mukerjea is the husband of Indrani Mukerjea, who is a co-accused along with her ex-husband Sanjeev Khanna and former driver Shyam Rai in the murder of her daughter Sheena Bora.
Among other things, the CBI is probing the financial angle as the motive behind the killing, with Mr Mukerjea revealing investments worth crores of rupees in foreign bank accounts.
The CBI is also in contact with the Interpol seeking details of the foreign bank accounts opened or operated by the Mukerjea couple in Hong Kong and other places.
Sheena Bora, Indrani's daughter from an earlier relationship, was killed in April 2012 and her body was dumped in the forests in Raigad.
