Sheena Bora murder case: She was allegedly strangled inside a car by her mother, Indrani Mukerjea
Mumbai:
Weeks ago,
Indrani Mukerjea wrote to her husband Peter Mukerjea, "Don't talk to me", and accused his family of trying to frame her for her daughter Sheena Bora's murder in 2012 - a crime for which both are in jail. In a sensational twist to her rancorous exchanges with her husband of late, Indrani told a Mumbai court on Wednesday that Peter Mukerjea "may have conspired and abducted" Sheena Bora in 2012 and "made her untraceable".
In a handwritten application to a special CBI court, Indrani Mukerjea wrote that Sheena Bora "may have lost her life on account of greed, betrayal, jealousy, lust and ill-will of persons whom she dearly loved and trusted."
Appearing to accuse her husband of murder, she wrote: "I also believe that (Peter Mukerjea) along with other persons may have manipulated circumstances to frame me and have influenced witnesses, situations and information to lead to my arrest for a heinous crime that they may have committed, aided and abetted."
Indrani asked the court to order a phone company to reveal her husband's call records between 2012 and 2015 to establish that she was being framed.
Indrani Mukerjea, the former owner of a TV channel along with Peter Mukerjea, was arrested in August 2015 for the murder of 25-year-old Sheena Bora, her daughter from her first marriage. Months later, Peter Mukerjea was arrested and accused of helping Indrani in the murder. They are in separate jails in Mumbai and meet only during hearings or in a police van taking them to court or back. Recently, Indrani asked Peter Mukerjea for a divorce.
Sheena Bora was allegedly strangled inside a car by her mother, with help from her second husband Sanjeev Khanna and her driver Shyamwar Rai. Investigators say Indrani was furious about Sheena's relationship with Rahul Mukerjea - Peter Mukerjea's son from an earlier marriage. Indrani later told friends that Sheena - whom she had always presented as her sister - had shifted to the US.
Shyamwar Rai has told the court that Indrani Mukerjea strangled her daughter and "sat on her face" and later set her body on fire.
Peter's lawyer Shrikant Shivde has said he will file a reply in court, according to news agency Press Trust of India.
