Varanasi: There were some anxious moments on Sunday as a short-circuit occurred in front of a stage at Assi Ghat in Varanasi, minutes before the arrival of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries.
As sparks flew off the electric wires attached to the sound system installed at the fabled Ghat, city mayor Ram Prakash Mohile and MLAs Ravindra Jaiswal and Jyotsna Srivastava ran down the stage.
Power department officials rushed to fix the snag even as people in the audience raised an alarm.
The problem was fixed in a few minutes and no major damage was caused.
