Siachen: Two jawans die in fire

New Delhi: Two officers of the Indian Army, at a post on the Siachen glacier, were burnt to death on Wednesday night, after the fibre glass reinforced bunker they were staying in caught fire.

Four soldiers who tried to rescue them also sustained burn injuries. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Siachen is regarded as the world's highest battlefield, with posts located at altitudes ranging up to 22,000 feet and temperatures going as far down as minus forty degrees.
