Sibal meeting with Tata, Ambani, Mittal on telecom concerns

New Delhi: At a time when the telecom sector is in complete upheaval because of the 2G spectrum scam, the new Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal today reached out to the big telecom players to discuss the issues plaguing the sector. 

Those who attended the meeting today were Anil Ambani, Sunil Mittal and Ratan Tata. 

Sources say the minister is seeking their views on what went wrong in the past, as well as their vision for the sector going forward. 

The issues that will figure include cancellation of permits to telecom companies for failing to roll out services as promised, excess spectrum holdings by GSM telecom companies and policy flip-flops in awarding dual technology licenses.
