Rajasthan Chief Minister and BJP leader Vasundhara Raje.
Jaipur:
Sidelined BJP leader Ghanshyam Tiwari in a veiled attack today cornered Vasundhara Raje government and party leadership in Rajasthan saying the state cannot be given in the hands of those who do not fit the ideology of the party.
Addressing a rally of his supporters in Jaipur today, Mr Tiwari claimed that he was not a "dissident" but was only "struggling" to restore the respect of party workers who have remained neglected for years.
"I am not dissident and not gathering support from any dissident. I am just calling upon those who have struggled for long but did not get respect within the party.
"We will not let any turncoat remain in the party. I also have no wish to become a minister or to make my son an MLA or MP," Mr Tiwari, a former minister and a legislator from Jaipur's Sanganer assembly seat, said.
"We cannot give the state in the hands of corrupt," he said in the Birla auditorium here packed with his supporters who came from different parts of the state.
"Through our campaign, we will spread the values and thoughts of (RSS ideologue) Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay, former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and former vice president and former CM of Rajasthan Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.
"Late Shekhawat had nurtured and strengthened the party but today his name is not taken in any party programme.
"I will spread their values among the party workers across the state," Mr Tiwari said.
The BJP leader further alleged that the 'Antyoday scheme' which initiated by Mr Shekhawat has now become "Apno-day" (nepotism) and "Upar-uday" (rise of those in leadership). Mr Tiwari, who is seen as a critic of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, said he was hurt and sad after he was "mishandled" in October this year by the supporters of another party leader at a BJP training camp in his constituency Sanganer.
"I then decided to restore the values and etiquettes within the party workers by going to every constituency... My struggle will continue, I will neither be afraid nor bow and will reestablish the values which are getting lost today, the 68-year-old leader said.
His son Akhilesh Tiwari said that a 'Deendayal Vahini' has been constituted and its members will be called 'Senani' and will reach out to people at the Panchayat level and will bound the government to work with values of Upadhyay and with best political principles.
The programme was organised by Pandit Deendayal Smriti Sansthan which was founded by Mr Tiwari.
