The Punjab police have possibly made another breakthrough in the Sidhu Moose Wala murder case as it has accessed fresh CCTV footage from a petrol pump where the suspected killers were seen with their Bolero car. The footage is from a petrol pump somewhere between Haryana's Fatehabad and Sardulgarh in Punjab. The police suspect the car that has been spotted in the footage is the one that was used in the killing of the Punjabi singer.
The police had earlier examined CCTV footage from the Bisla village in Fatehabad, where the same car had reportedly stopped for refuelling.
The new surveillance camera footage shows a white Bolero car with a Delhi numberplate stopping at a pump. Two men get out of the car to get it refuelled with diesel. The police have identified these men as Parvat Fauji and Jonty who they claim are notorious criminals from Haryana's Sonipat and the footage is from right before Sidhu Moose Wala's murder. The police are now looking for them.
Earlier, the Punjab police had picked up two men Pawan and Naseeb on suspicion. Pawan is a resident of Bhirdana village in Fatehabad and works with combine harvester machines while Naseeb fixes flat tyres.
The main suspect in the killing of Sidhu Moose Wala, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has not confessed so far but he has said the singer was killed for revenge, Delhi Police has said. He has also said his gang planned and executed the murder, not him.
Lawrence Bishnoi, who is Delhi's Tihar jail, was taken out of prison earlier this week to be questioned by the police on the killing of Sidhu Moose Wala on Sunday.
Earlier, the Punjab police on May 31 arrested a person named Manpreet Singh from Uttarakhand for allegedly supplying vehicles to assailants who were involved in the murder of Moose Wala. Five others were also detained along with him.
28-year-old Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead by a group of attackers on Sunday at Jawahar Ke village, a day after his security was pared down by the Punjab government. His body had 19 bullet wounds and he died within 15 minutes of being shot, according to the post-mortem report.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said today that the killing of the popular singer is unfortunate but politics should not be done around it.
"Punjab CM has already said they are trying their best and assured that the accused will be soon arrested and given strictest punishment," Mr Kejriwal said today.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also visited the parents of Sidhu Moose Wala today at his village. On his way, the Chief Minister had to face slogan-shouting protesters who tried to stop him from entering the Moosa village in the Mansa district.
