Updates: Singer Sidhu Moose Wala Cremated In Native Punjab Village, Thousands Attend

Sidhu Moose Wala's killing seemed to be the result of an inter-gang rivalry, Punjab Police chief VK Bhawra said.

Punjabi Singer Sidhu Moose Wala's last rites were held today.

Punjabi Singer Sidhu Moose Wala, who contested this year's Punjab state polls on a Congress ticket, was shot dead while he was driving his SUV in Punjab's Mansa on Sunday.

Punjab Police chief VK Bhawra has said the killing seemed to be the result of an inter-gang rivalry.

His last rites were held today.

On Monday, Punjab Police detained six people from Uttarakhand capital Dehradun in connection with Moose Wala's murder.

Uttarakhand Special Task Force (STF) and Punjab STF, in a joint operation with Dehradun Police, have detained six people who allegedly provided support to the attackers in the killing of Sidhu Moose Wala.

Opposition Slams AAP For "VIP Culture" Post Mentioning Sidhu Moose Wala

The opposition in Punjab on Monday alleged a complete collapse of law and order in the state, saying "frightening" conditions are prevailing in the state.

Stepping up the attack on the AAP government over the murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, the Punjab Youth Congress also held a protest against the ruling party here.

Several protesters were detained when they tried to "gherao" the office of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) here.

The famous Punjabi singer and Congress leader Moose Wala was shot dead on Sunday by unidentified assailants in Punjab's Mansa district, a day after the state government pruned his security cover.

Meanwhile, Punjab Congress president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring said a "frightening" atmosphere is prevailing across the state after the brutal daylight murder of Moosewala.

Sidhu Moose Wala Killing: High Court Seeks Punjab Government's Reply On Security Withdrawal
Amid outrage over the killing of Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala, the Punjab and Haryana High Court on Monday issued a notice to the state government seeking a detailed report on the number of people whose security was reduced or withdrawn and the reason for the move.

Sidhu Moose Wala was shot dead in Punjab's Mansa district on Sunday evening, a day after Punjab Police curtailed the security cover of 420 people including him.

"Court has issued notice to Punjab govt asking for a detailed report on the number of people whose security was taken and reason for which their security was curtailed. Reply has to be filed by Punjab government on June 2," Satya Pal Jain, Additional Solicitor General of India told news agency ANI.
