Kolkata: Barely a week into assuming office, the Mamata Banerjee-led government has swung into action against the CPM.

The state government has ordered a probe into a possible CPM connection to the Silda massacre early last year.

The state director general of police ordered the probe after the cops found a cache of arms, including Insas rifles, near the CPM party office at Enayatpur. The police also found 58 sets of camouflage uniforms, often worn by CRPF jawans, inside an abandoned CPM office nearby.

Twenty four jawans of the Eastern Frontier Rifles were shot dead inside their camp at Silda on February 15 allegedly by the Maoists.
