New Delhi:
Former Bollywood playback singer Abhijeet has landed into controversy following his abusive comments on Twitter regarding a woman journalist.
As indignation erupted on Twitter, the journalist filed a complaint with the police. The Mumbai police have said they will take strong action in what is potentially a case of sexual harassment.
Abhijeet, known for his right-leaning views, lashed back in response. Accusing the journalist, Delhi-based Swati Chaturvedi, of reaping "publicity" from his tweets, he said, "she is lucky she is a woman. Or I would have found out her address".
Asked if he was apologetic, he told NDTV, "What apologetic? I am going to do (this) over and over again."
The trouble had started after Ms Swati Chaturvedi and jantakareporter.com's editor-in-chief, Rifat Jawaid objected against a post of the singer regarding the murder of an Infosys techie in Chennai. In his post, Abhijeet had tweeted saying the murder was a result of love jihad,
Ms Chaturvedi responded that the alleged murderer was a man called Ramkumar and he has been arrested. She further said:.
The singer retaliated with abusive language, which drew widespread condemnation from Twitterati and calls for police action against him.
Abhijeet told NDTV that his comments were a response to Ms Chaturvedi's post that he was "jealous" of Pakistanis making Indians suffer by taking their jobs, which was a shameful thing to say. He added that he wasn't a politician and doesn't "think much before writing anything".

@abhijeetsinger @bainjal you come across as a petty irrelevant little man who relies on hate and nativism to reclaim his career
