Popular singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, died hours after his concert in Kolkata on Tuesday. He was 53. "We will always remember him through his songs," tweeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The singer reportedly fell down the stairs at the hotel where he was staying after the concert in Kolkata's Nazrul Mancha auditorium. He was rushed to city's CMRI hospitalbut doctors declared him brought dead.
Home Minister Amit Shah said the singer's death was a "huge loss to Indian music".
Actor Akshay Kumar expressed shock over the singer's death.
One of the most versatile singers of the Indian film industry, KK has recorded songs in several languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Bengali.
"Another reminder of how fragile life is," wrote Virender Sehwag on Twitter. "The tears won't stop," tweeted musician Vishal Dadlani.
"Not fair man, Not your time to go," tweeted singer Mohit Chauhan along a photo of himself with KK. Bollywood singer Shaan was also seen in the throwback photo.
Just hours before the shocking news, KK posted snippets from his performance in Kolkata.
KK is best known for his debut album "Pal" and songs like "Zindagi Do Pal Ki" from the movie Kites, "Aankhon Mein Teri" from the movie Om Shanti Om, "Khuda Jaane" from the movie Bachna Ae Haseeno, "Tadap Tadap" from the movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam among others.
