Muzaffarnagar:
At least six persons, including three women, were killed and 40 others injured when a truck overturned on a bus packed with Maha Kumbh pilgrims on the Delhi-Dehra Dun national highway here on early Monday.
Twelve of the injured are in a serious condition, police said.
The truck, heavily loaded with concrete, fell over the Uttar Pradesh state transport bus near Bhagella village in the district, police said.
The bus was travelling from Delhi to Rishikesh and most of the passengers were pilgrims going to Haridwar for the ongoing Maha Kumbh.
Superintendent of Police (City) Rajive Malhotra said the bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem while the injured have been taken to different nearby hospitals.
The deceased have been identified as Ranjit Sharma (60) and Prem Singh (50), both from Delhi, Babu Parida (50), Sunita (36), Sarojini (60) and Swarupa (85), all from Orissa.
