Six policemen were killed and as many injured when Maoists triggered a landmine
blast in Jharkhand's Latehar district on Friday, a senior official said.
The incident occurred at Kutmu More area when the van of the security forces, who were returning from patrolling, drove over the landmine laid by the rebels, Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar Purwar told reporters here.
While five policemen died on the spot, the injured five were rushed to a hospital in Medininagar, the headquarter town of Palamau, he said.
Latehar SP Kuldeep Dewedi had a narrow escape as the explosive went off minutes after his car passed the path, Purwar said.
