Snapdeal CEO Kunal Bahl: 'Shouldn't Take 30 Days To Register A Company', It Won't, Says Government

Kunal Bahl, CEO, Snapdeal speaking exclusively to NDTV on Saturday.

New Delhi: The biggest challenge for start-ups is getting high quality team members "who will stay with them even when times are tough", Snapdeal co-founder CEO Kunal Bahl said on Saturday. He was speaking on a session on what startups need to prosper at the launch of the Modi government's initiative 'Start-Up India.'

Speaking to NDTV exclusively, Mr Bahl said, "Our country needs not more policy but more entrepreneurs." Speaking on the government's initiative being launched today he said, "We have a very progressive government and a government that is clearly supporting startups...But, we'll have to look at the details to figure out how does it become easier. It shouldn't take a month to register a company."

Reacting to Mr Bahl's comment, union commerce minister Nirmala Sitharaman told NTDV, "We'll make it possible to set up business in a day." The minister added, "I understand the cynicism but we are working on it." She said startups from India are leaders and the government will make it easier for them to do business.

Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder and CEO of OLA Cabs, who was also speaking at the session, concurred with Mr Bahl on the chief challenges before startups. "The biggest challenge for any start-up is getting (the) right talent and skilled manpower and scaling up skill development," he said.

Addressing entrepreneurs, the Snapdeal CEO said, "If you believe what you are doing is solving the problem of even five people, it is good enough to be pursued."

"Keep taking feedback. You will find the solution. Don't give up!"
