Uri: A Junior Commissioned Officer or JCO of the Indian Army was killed and another injured in overnight firing in Uri sector near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said.
It was during the firing on an Army patrol unit that Subedar Prakash Chander of 8 Kumaon regiment was killed, the spokesman said.
It was not clear whether it was a ceasefire violation or militants firing on the patrol unit.
Following the incident, the Jammu and Kashmir government had cancelled the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service, which has now been resumed.
