Sonia Gandhi back at work, chairs hour-long meeting at home
Delhi: Sonia Gandhi seemed to be in good health as she chaired an hour-long meeting at her home today, said her party colleagues. This was her first public appearance after she returned to Delhi a few days ago from the US, where she underwent surgery.

Mrs Gandhi met with the Central Election Committee of the Congress which includes the Prime Minister and senior ministers like Pranab Mukherjee and AK Antony. The agenda was the UP elections.

She wore a grey salwaar-kameez. "She is normally fit but as per her doctor's advice, she will take time to fully come back to her normal schedule," said party spokesperson Janardhan Dwivedi. He added, "Like earlier occasions, she received the PM and saw him off."

Mrs Gandhi's party has refused to comment on the sort of operation or the nature of the medical problem that led to her spending six weeks in America. "Everyone was very happy to see her...it didn't seem like she has gone through an operation recently", said General Secretary Digvijaya Singh.

Mrs Gandhi's colleagues had not met her since she arrived in Delhi early morning on September 8, accompanied by her daughter, Priyanka.
