New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi has congratulated Justin Trudeau upon his election as the Prime Minister of Canada.
In a message, she expressed the hope that Indo-Canadian relations will further strengthen with Trudeau at the helm.
Justin Trudeau, the son of late Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, became Canada's new prime minister after his Liberal Party won a majority of that country's Parliament's 338 seats.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, earlier in April this year, became the first Indian Prime Minister to travel to Canada in 42 years with the visit focussing on setting a trajectory in ties through cooperation in energy, including civil nuclear, and attracting trade and technology for India's development.
