Sonia Gandhi's Rae Bareli spared power cuts

Sonia Gandhi's Rae Bareli spared power cuts
Rae Bareli: Power cuts in Sonia Gandhi's Rae Bareli constituency will now be a thing of the past. This is after the Congress President and Rae Bareilly MP reached out to Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav seeking uninterrupted power supply.

Mrs Gandhi reached out to Mr Yadav in the Lok Sabha earlier this week to get something that Amethi and Rae Bareli have rarely had - uninterrupted power. Within hours, the two districts joined a list of VIP constituencies, where lights rarely go out. Amethi, also in Uttar Pradesh, is Mrs Gandhi's son Rahul's constituency.

"We were given orders that from now on there will be no power cuts in Rae Bareli town area," RP Tripathi, Superintendent Engineer, Raebareli, said.

Shailendra Tripathi, a resident of Rae Bareli says, "Because of the bonhomie and the cordial relation between the government at the centre, which is why these two districts are getting uninterrupted power supply."

Mr Yadav's Samajwadi party, which was elected the single-largest party in the assembly elections earlier this year and gives provides support to the Congress-led UPA,  has bailed out the government on numerous occasions over crucial matters.
