Sopore: Two policemen have been suspended and an MLA has been arrested for protesting against the custodial death of the 28-year-old Nazeem Rashid in Sopore.
On Sunday, Nazeem Rashid, brought in for questioning in connection with a murder case, died at the police station.
Sources say Rashid died due to alleged torture in police custody, but cops maintain that he died of a heart attack. A medical board has been constituted to look into the matter.
Opposition leader Mehbooba Mufti, Mirwaiz Farooq and SAS Gilani have been put under house arrest in Srinagar to prevent mobilising of protests against the custodial deaths.
