Muzaffarnagar: Samajwadi Party legislator Nahid Hasan was today booked along with 30 of his supporters for allegedly threatening TV channel reporters who had gone to cover the killing of an eight-year-old boy in celebratory firing at Kairana in Shamli district.
A case has been registered against Mr Hasan and his 30 supporters under Sections 147 (rioting), 342 (wrongful confinement), 504 (insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC and under IT Act after a photographer, Mukesh, lodged a complaint in this connection, police said.
An eight-year-old boy was killed in celebratory firing by party workers in Shamli district, leading Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to order immediate removal of the area's SDM and Deputy SP.
Two crew members of a leading English news channel who went to the spot for coverage of the tragedy were allegedly attacked by Mr Hasan and his aides.
The workers were celebrating the victory of party candidate Nafisa in the local body polls from the town.
