New Delhi:
Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has called for an all-party meeting today to ensure a smooth Monsoon Session of Parliament, which is scheduled to begin from August 8.
The meeting has been convened in an attempt to seek assurances from leaders of the parties that proceedings of the month-long session would not be disrupted.
The Budget Session earlier this year was heavily disrupted over the issues of Lokpal Bill and black money.
The BJP-led Opposition is likely to raise a variety of issues like drought, price rise and corruption in the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
The Congress, meanwhile, will have a new Leader of the House in Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde. Mr Shinde, who was given charge of the home ministry a week back, will take over as the Leader of the Lok Sabha, a post left vacant after Pranab Mukherjee's elevation to the highest office in the country.
