The Congress party today promised special courts to try drug peddlers and a three-month timeframe for their trials if it is voted to power in 2017 elections in Punjab.
All properties of those convicted will be attached, Punjab Congress President Pratap Singh Bajwa said.
He was addressing a gathering in Manwala village of Bathinda district at the conclusion of two-day Punjab tour by Party vice president Rahul Gandhi.
Earlier, Mr Gandhi started his second day of the tour by visiting the historic Talwandi Sabo Gurudwara.
He also participated in the langar at the gurudwara and was joined by top leadership of Punjab Congress unit including former chief minister and Parliamentarian from Amritsar, Captain Amarinder Singh, and leader of opposition in Punjab legislature Sunil Jakhar.
The Congress vice president started his 8 km-long march with a visit to house of cotton farmer Jagdev Singh who committed suicide on October 11 after his losing his entire crop.
Jagdev owed a loan of Rs 6 lakhs from banks and cooperative a society. His family is yet to get the compensation announced by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal's government, Congress workers said.

"The entire state leadership of Congress party is now united and ready to overthrow the Akali-BJP rule from Punjab," he said.
Congress Deputy Leader in the Lok Sabha Captain Amarinder Singh challenged the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to visit the victims of the Bargari police firing like Mr Gandhi.
"Leave it to the people of Punjab to pronounce the judgement as who was their enemy. You (Mr Badal) or the Congress, if you still have any doubts," he said.
