Special trains on dynamic fares to have more trips for Mumbai
New Delhi: Encouraged by the good response to premier AC special trains on the Delhi-Mumbai route being run on dynamic fares, Railways have decided to extend the services of these trains to cater the growing demand for travel on the busy route during the festive season up to the New Year.

As per the decision, the Mumbai Central-New Delhi AC special train will run on January 3 and 5 while on the return journey, the New Delhi-Mumbai Central AC special will run on January 4 and 6.

For the first time, Railways run the trains on an experimental basis with dynamic fares on the pattern of airlines by operating AC special trains between Delhi and Mumbai from December 24 with costlier tickets to en-cash the peak demand during festive season of Christmas and New Year.

The national transporters had earlier scheduled four trips from Delhi from December 24 till January 2 next year and in the return journey three trips from December 26 till January 3 from Mumbai.

The response is very good as the trains were booked to the capacity and fares jumped between 30 to 35 per cent, said a senior Railway Ministry official adding "we are mulling now to introduce similar service on other busy routes."

The premier AC special trains have only AC-2 and AC-3 classes with Rajdhani like facility including catering.
