The authorities have also cleared snow on Mughal Road - the alternate road-link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country - and vehicles are being allowed to ply.
Srinagar:
The Srinagar-Leh national highway was re-opened for traffic today, four days after the road was closed due to heavy snowfall at Zojila Pass.
"The Srinagar-Leh road has been cleared of snow and the highway has been opened for traffic. However, only those vehicles which were stuck near Sonamarg in the wake of the closure of the highway are being allowed to move forward," a Traffic Department spokesman said.
The highway was closed due to heavy snowfall at Zojila Pass and other places along the route on November 5. No fresh traffic is being allowed on the highway, the spokesman said.
The authorities have also cleared snow on Mughal Road - the alternate road-link connecting the Kashmir Valley with the rest of the country - and vehicles are being allowed to ply.
The Srinagar-Jammu national highway is also open for traffic. Traffic is plying on the national highway from both sides, the spokesman said.
