A 82-year-old woman died after a pack of stray dogs brutally attacked her at her hut in Rajanna Sircilla district on Wednesday night, police said on Thursday.
The elderly woman was sleeping in her hut in Sevalal Thanda locality in Mustabad mandal headquarters when the dogs attacked her, they said, adding that she had been bedridden for a long time.
"She was sleeping in the hut when a pack of stray dogs entered it and attacked her," Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan said.
The dogs killed her, ate some of her body parts and left, the police said.
The family members of the woman who live close by found her body on Thursday morning, police said.
On a complaint by the son of the killed woman woman, a case of suspicious death was registered under section 194 of the BNS, and a probe is underway, police added.
Local residents demanded that the authorities concerned take necessary measures to control the menace of stray dogs.
