The counsel for the the Centre also informed the division bench comprising Justice R Sudhakar and Justice C Velumai that strict instructions had been given to seize Chinese crackers entering the country.
The court had earlier directed the Union Government to consider the representation by one Chithirai Jothi who in a PIL urged the authorities to issue a circular prohibiting retailers exhibiting, possessing and selling Chinese crackers.
When the petitioner submitted that some retailers continued to sell the Chinese crackers, the Government counsel said that they would have entered the country before its entry was prohibited.
The Judges said if the petitioner had documentary evidence about the sale of Chinese crackers, he could submit it to the government for taking action against the retailers.
