New Delhi: Zee News chief Subhash Chandra on Wednesday appeared before Delhi Police in connection with the case of alleged Rs 100 crore extortion bid by his two editors to "clarify" certain issues raised by investigators.

After the 30-minute meeting, Chandra told reporters that he voluntarily came and police had not called him for questioning.

"There were some doubts about my London number. They were of the view that I have denied things about London number. I came to clarify to them that I have not done so," he said.

Zee Editors Sudhir Choudhury and Samir Alhuwalia were arrested following a complaint filed by Congress MP Naveen Jindal's group that they tried to extort Rs 100 crore for not airing negative news against the company on coal scam.

Choudhury and Alhuwalia were granted bail on December 17.

Both Chaudhary and Ahluwalia were booked under section 384 (extortion), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 511 (punishment for attempting to commit offences punishable with imprisonment for life or other imprisonment) of the IPC.
