Kolkata: An unclaimed object in a local train triggered a bomb scare tonight at the busy Howrah station, prompting Eastern Railway officials to shut down local train operations temporarily.
After getting information about the article on the train, Railways and Government Railway Police officials made passengers vacate the Tarakeshwar bound Howrah-Tarakeshwar EMU local train at around 10.30 pm and initiated scanning operations.
All train movements from platform numbers one to four have also been stopped, Railway officials said, adding, train services would resume only after the entire station complex as well as the trains were sanitised.
