Newly-elected Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today called on Vice President Hamid Ansari and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Ms Mahajan met Mr Ansari, who is also the chairperson of the Rajya Sabha, at his residence.
Later, she visited the residence of Mr Vajpayee who is staying away from public life due to ill health.
She also called on her predecessor Meira Kumar.
71-year-old Mahajan, a BJP veteran, was yesterday elected unopposed as the Speaker of the 16th Lok Sabha, becoming the second woman to occupy the prestigious position after her predecessor Ms Kumar.
Ms Mahajan met Mr Ansari, who is also the chairperson of the Rajya Sabha, at his residence.
