Supreme Court agrees to hear plea seeking stay on all remaining IPL matches
New Delhi: The Supreme Court has agreed to hear at 2 pm today a petition seeking a stay on all remaining IPL matches in the wake of the massive spot-fixing scandal that has hit the tournament.

The public interest writ petition was filed in the Supreme Court on Monday by social activist Sudarsh Awasti, who also wants the court to order a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the scam.

So far 18 people have been arrested for alleged spot-fixing in the latest edition of IPL. Prominent among them are Rajasthan Royals players S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankeet Chavan. All of them have been suspended by the franchise pending enquiry.

The petitioner has also urged the court to order a complete ban on the Indian Premier League from next season. "IPL has become a hub of black money. Huge money is invested by various celebrities, politician and anti-national persons the whereabouts of which are not know to anyone, "he has said in his plea.

A bench of justices B S Chauhan and Deepak Misra has posted the matter for hearing at 2 pm. The petition has made all IPL franchises and BCCI party in the case along with the Centre.
